Advice

Balance is the first skill to enable you to ride a bicycle. When you are riding any bicycle the purpose is to save energy and maybe with the addition of it being heaps of fun. Putting your feet on the ground while riding is only going to slow you down and Trials has based the sport on penalising a competitor for doing so. Even if you don’t compete and riding for leisure the same basic rules apply or it would become something other than Trials riding. If you want to compete it would be wise to visit the UCI website and download the rule book and learn them before competing.

Riding up Obstacles

1. Transition. This is when we switch the front wheel position with the rear wheel position, quite simply a lunge forward. This skill is advancement on the two wheel hopping skill. It requires the same technique and is where the rider shifts his own weight and the rear wheel of the bike to the where the front wheel was placed. This skill is great for beginning trials because it enable you to manage obstacles ranging in height or distances that are up to the length of your bikes wheel base. It also is a good measure that your skill level has reached that of a Sport Class Competitor.
